Had an SV650S will I be disappointed with a FZ6?

I had an SV650S and loved it until a driver cut me off and I laid it down. It ended up being totaled so I have to get another bike. I've called around looking for another sv650s but noone seems to have any or they're outrageously priced and that's the only reason they're still available. I've started to look at the Yamaha FZ6 and I have enough with the insurance check to go out and get the FZ6 right now - and I've found one at a really good price. I've heard mixed reviews about the FZ6 so I'm kinda uneasy about buying one. I mostly drive on the highways 55+ and I like the upright riding position better on the FZ but I'm still unsure. I've only had the SV for a few months so I'm still a beginner so I want to make sure the FZ6 would be a good bike for me to get or I don't know if I would be disappointed coming off the SV650S....

The FZ has a slightly less aggressive riding position, but it is faster, and more forgiving in my opinion.

You shouldn't be disappointed, but you have to remember the differences in engine characteristics between a v-twin and an I-4.

Here is a time-slip from a member of another FZ6 forum I am on that dragged an SV on the track:

2006 FZ6 ............2007 SV650

Reaction Time:........ .121.......116
60 ft ......................2.198.... 2.11

MPH .......................90.98 ....82.98
1000 ft................... 10.50 ...11.096
End Time................ 12.549 ..13.44

The Fz6 is a totally different animal against the Sv. I liked the Fz6 better, better suspension, more comfortable, and more top end power. The fz6 is the best all rounder out there.

Which bike you like best will ultimately be only your decision. But if you already know you prefer the riding position and the engine size, then your off to a good start. The I4 will have different characteristics, less low end torque more top end power and range. I haven't heard any complaints about the suspension just wearing out on the FZ6, like I've heard of with the SV's. SV's are also way to common for my liking.

I had a SV rider I meet last night tell me he'd tried an FZ6 once, and thought it had very very upright positioning. He said it was "just like riding a scooter, a 100hp scooter". So there you go, opinions WILL very greatly. Only yours will mater in the end.

Nah, that'd be the GSX-R. If SV's werent so overpriced(like SR20DET 240SX overpriced), then I'd probably be crawling all over the SVrider forum right now. Way to promote a positive attitude among forum members though.

SV650 over priced? I found the SV was much cheaper than the FZ6 new. I wanted more wind protection than the basic SV650 offered. Although the SV650 has available ABS, which is something Yamaha should offer soon!

An SV over the FZ? Why because you like inferior bikes? caveman technology? Giant coffee can mufflers? I don't get it. The only reason someone would buy a SV over a FZ is:
1. they didn't research bikes
2. they found it cheap
3. they are a Suzuki fanboy!
4. they are a former harley rider who thinks a bike w/torque will beat a bike with out it......I am not pulling stumps!
