Hi everyone (new and old!)
I have been on an fz6 since I got my license 10+ years ago and did a lot of mods back in the early 2010s and spent a lot of time hanging out here on the forum - that was such a great help. Then spent a few years moving constantly and hence not riding much, but have been getting back into it since last year.
I return to the forum because of a good / bad news situation - taking my bike back from winter storage (two + hour ride) last weekend, the weather turned foul and I hit a tar snake in the wet going 110-120 kph (~60mph). I took a pretty serious spill, slid out along the left side. Thankfully, I got away with an AC-joint dislocation and some bruises, but man, that five seconds sliding on my back turtle style, looking back at the driver coming up behind me.....pretty interesting five seconds.
Anyway, long story short - my bike which was a 2005 Fz6 with a slightly customised fairing, DB wind screen, angel eye head lights, custom bar and grips and what not, is now an fz6 sans all the plastic bits and one foot peg. Thanks to some really sturdy crash pucks and an incredibly well built Givi rear case which acted as a crash puck for the rear, the frame and engine and everything else is pretty much intact. SO after I get my local mechanics to look it over I am going to start rebuilding the bike but this time in a naked version. The wiring loom is intact, but I probably will need to replace lights, pegs, handle bar, grips, bar ends, and other bits and bobs as well as repaint parts including a dinged up tank. Also think this might be the time to upgrade the exhaust.
So in essence I figured now was probably the time to come back to the forums
I have missed you all and thanks for being here!
