New to Forum - Please Help With Issue
Hi all. I am new to the forum and picked up my 2008 Yamaha Fz6 with 7k miles at the end of May this year (2018). I have just over 8400 miles now. The bike was in mint condition from the original owner and had 0 issues. I have loved riding this bike so far its an amazing all around bike.
Recently when riding I think I got stuck between 1st and second gear I released the clutch and twisted the throttle and went on my way, I heard a not so great noise like a clunk or bang and then didnt hear anything after that beside being very nervous I ruined something. Well later on in the day about 60 miles later I was going slow in first gear and heard a clank sound. I kept hearing it sometimes on deceleration and sometimes on acceleration depending on if I feather the clutch or raise my rpms. I only hear it in traffic or mostly taking off from 2nd gear. I brought it to the mechanic and they assumed is was the chain and sprockets, I will admit I did not lube it in the 1k miles I put on. They called me and said they examined the sprockets and they looked good but the chain was kinked so I got a new chain, oil change, and my clutch adjusted.
When I got the bike back it was smoother. However the noise is now back. The other day on my new chain it was really bad toward the end of my ride so I figured the chain needed to be cleaned as it got wet too. I cleaned up the chain lubed it and the ride was smoother however I still get that annoying click/clank coming out of second gear sometimes it comes from first gear but mainly second also sometimes it comes on deceleration.
I have no clue as to what this is and its really bumming me out. I dont want to keep throwing money at it for issues it not is. I love riding and do a lot of miles. I really dont know if riding it at this point is causing more damage or not. I dont always hear it and have tried to adjust my riding to fix it but when it happens I get very aggravated. It almost sound similar to gear lash. I cant really mimic it on the center stand and going through the gears. Im lost at this point. If anyone can help or has any idea what it could be please give me any insight. I really hope I did not damage something in the gearbox, really upsets me as I planned to keep this bike literally forever for the condition/price I got it for. Beside this click/clank after releasing the clutch and giving it throttle (not every time) it runs great. Thanks in advance.
