Hello there. Nice to meet you.

I just searched and it doesn't seem as though I've introduced myself to y'all.

I'm Ben. I live in San Francisco. I've been riding a while having gone from Suzuki Marauder to a Honda Shadow a "throw your leg over and pray" Triumph Adventure, and finally settling onto a lovely young lady named Amelia. A 2009 straight up FZ6. I adopted her in January 2011 brand new off the showroom floor from Golden Gate locally. I walked in, asked the guys to talk me out of an FZ6 and, well - after two hours and many different motorcycles; he couldn't.

Done and donner. With zero miles on the clock she was in her new home...

8 months, 29 days, 8,743 miles, and well over 200 hours in the saddle later - I'm still smitten.

I've added the 1" x 1" risers The Large Cal Sci Windscreen and I could NOT be happier. I recently got the SW-MOTECH crashbars with foot pegs and brackets. I got 40 miles into a 1500 mile trip and both pegs fell off....

That was the longest trip to date and was fantastic. Out of SF on a Friday; Portland Saturday afternoon - and back by noon on Monday. The combo of the large windscreen (the Cal Sci guys were awesome by the way. Let me test all sizes before I bought) and the just a hair bit of lift with the bars - this bike can take anything and any situation. And let's be honest; and AreoStich makes ALL the difference. Shameless plug. I love mine.

Anyway - I cleaned her up to a showroom shine today and it made me think of the riding season coming to a close. I'll need some support in the winter. And of course, wanted to say hi.
Hi.

Rubber down.

welcome to the site , Ben. Good to see you're getting plenty of use out of the FZ. Seems you have personalized the bike to suit your needs.I've never been to Cali, but I would think your riding season isn't quite done yet , is it ? If it isn't wet,or snowy/icy here in the east,we just suit up, and get on with it ...keep in touch, and stay safe !

Cool

happy 2012 y'all... winter never really happened; and since I posted this in Nov I've logged a tad over 4500 miles at 4538 with 13, 281 on the clock.

I had a few minutes to spare today and reflect on my little sweetheart. I took some photos too (and found some trip photos too).

First; i hit 10K 12.29 (personal milestone)... Took a shot of the main mods that have really enhanced my riding experience.

The 1x1 riser; I know I should give up on the look of the yamaha plate and resort to the safety of proper lock downs - but I'm a bit vain. Sorry. Needless to say - love this addition. I can stand straight up and ride as well hunch down and fly.

The crashbars and fwd pegs are great to stretch out the legs after the miles, and I'm growing quite fond of the footpeg extenders. i found that after 2/300 straight miles my knees were getting tight. I've done a few hundred with these and so far so good.

The trunk; can't say any more. If you commute, even 2.4 miles as I do - get one. Do Not Pass Go. (I can NOT get that photo to flip right; apologies)

Last Thursday I had a factory re-built Penske 8983 installed as well had the fork oil changed and "calibrated to the over all package" (what ever that meant). A trusted man and someone who has the best interest of seeing my safety and ride-ability as he will be with me for many many many miles - needless to say, today was the first "real ride" on it and it is fantastic. Knowing what it feels like now highway, around town, corners, on/off ramps - I'd pay full retail. Straight up. BTW - Hardracing.com is cheaper than the manufacturer....

Couple of other things I did in the last few months was a pigtail for the battery tender; a USB charger (so very handy), and an LED rear light from motodynamic.com with sequential turns (and still using the factory in addition). Don't have a photo sorry; looks the same as the site though, and quite clear under the GIVI bag I'm told.

And another shot of my most favorite and beloved accessory item Ameila wears; her CalSci Windscreen. Oh how I love it so. Words do not begin to express.... www.calsci.com

I had a few great rides this winter; I'm only allowed 5 shots at a time so I'll leave you with these.

Carsen NV waking to snow.... oops.
woke up a few weeks ago and decided i had to just go. so i went.
