Default 07 vs 09

Hey guys, newbie here. I've been eying the FZ6 for a while now and I'll be buying one before the end of the month but I was wondering if there were any significant changes between the 07 model and the 09's. I got to test drive a 09 and I liked it a lot, and there is another dealer I found that has a brand new left over 07 for 1k cheaper, and it's in the color I want which is red. The 09 was black. They want $6800 for the 09 and $5800 for the 07, and they also have a brand new 06 for $5600. Any input would be great. Do you think I could get the 09 for cheaper than $6800? The salesman was pretty set on that price.

The biggest changes came about in the '07 model. New swingarm, FI, brakes. etc. Go on-ling and search Yamaha fz6 and find Wikipedia and you can see the what has happened. The '07, '08 and '09 were pretty much the same except for cosmetics. I would get the '07 for $5,800 (red is what you want!!). The '06 is $200 cheaper but doesn't have the upgrades that came about in '07.

I have a Red '07 and love it. I'm 58 years old and bought some riser/barbacks which made it better for me. I moved the bars up 1" and back 1". I'm about 5'6".

Hope I helped....good luck

European model 'FZ6 Fazer S2 ABS' has ABS and electronic immobilizer as standard. It is also 5 kg heavier, besides that, everything is the same.

I'm even older* - and I'm considering flat FZ1 bars!

Then again, maybe keep the bars and get a CalSci +9 shield.

Life is filled with possibilities.
