OK so maybe I want to put a bike under the tree for someone and I'm looking for a good all around machine. I've heard the FZ6 called a "Swiss Army Knife" so, for those who are looking for some general feedback on them, would you say this is a good pick?

the FZ6 is a do it all bike. it is good for commuting, comfortable enough for touring, and agile and quick enough for a good time on the weekends carving canyon roads.

I would attest for it because I used to have a Honda super4 PB1, a Honda Super4 Vtec 1, a Honda Super4 CB1300. I do much enjoyed on Yamaha FZ6N on riding position, torque power and the height clearance.

I wouldnt recomend a 600cc sportbike for a first bike. A lot of people go from ninja 250/500's to FZ6's. Its just a slight twist of the wrist that can lead to 3k-4k rpm difference, which in first or 2nd gear can get you in a predicament fast.

No need to be faster for a begginer. lol.

I also think the same. There is no requirement of this and you can do of your own.

I think Yamaha FZ6 is good for you because it has a multi-purpose motorcycle it can handle sport riding, touring, and commuting, FZ6 is a popular choice for its half-fairing, upright seating position, and underseat exhaust, Yamaha had done really good work in design and they are also provide very nice services.
